New Brunswick Regulation First Aid Kits
Overview of New Brunswick’s Requirements
- Similar to other Atlantic provinces, there are minimum content requirements (various bandages, dressings, antiseptics, etc.).
- The number of items required can scale with workforce size and risk environment.
New Brunswick regulations fall under the First Aid Regulation- Occupational Health and Safety Act (O.C. 2004-471). New Brunswick’s regulations on workplace safety mandate the use NB regulated first aid kits, varying based on number of workers per shift, location of the worksite, and occupational hazards on the worksite.
How CSA Kits Comply
- A CSA Z1220-compliant kit typically meets or exceeds the item list set out in NB regulations.
- Provides a convenient “all-in-one” solution, especially for small to medium worksites.
Differences to Note
- No explicit CSA mention, but compliance is straightforward if your CSA kit has at least the mandated supplies.
- Some workplaces (e.g., higher-risk industries) may need additional items like splints or specialized equipment.
